October 13, 2005

Tickets to an opera or musical can cost up to hundreds of dollars, but this weekend, the public can experience the music without paying a dime.

Great American Voices Military Base Tour: Unforgettable Melodies from Opera & Broadway, a performance of classic opera and musical theater, will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Bell Hall in Eisenhower Auditorium at Fort Leavenworth. The event is free and open to the public.

The concert, presented by National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Department of Army, will feature performers from The Lyric Opera of Kansas City who will sing selections from popular operas such as "Carmen," as well as highlights from classic American musicals including "Oklahoma!" and "West Side Story."

Great American Voices Military Base Tour is presented in coordination with the Department of Defense and OPERA America. The tour is made possible by Boeing Co.
