School board hosts regional conference
The fall regional meeting of the Kansas Association of School Boards was held for regions 1, 11, 13 and 15 at Lansing Middle School on Monday, Oct. 17.
"Almost every chair was full," said Lansing school board vice president Shelly Gowdy. In addition to representatives from local districts, Gowdy said two members of the state school board, Janet Waugh and Sue Gamble, and State Rep. Marti Crow, D-Leavenworth, also attended.
Gowdy said "it was an honor for Lansing to host" the meeting, which they have been on a waiting list to do for two years.
Dinner was served by Lansing Middle School student council members. Lansing High School Sound Spectrum choir performed, eliciting "lots of compliments," Gowdy said.
