County leadership class opens to applicants
Applications for the 2005-06 session of the Southern Leavenworth County Leader-ship Development are now available.
Basehor and Tonganoxie chambers of commerce have teamed up to offer a series of classes designed to promote leadership among community members. The 16-year-old program has graduated more than 220 students from the Basehor, Tonganoxie, Lansing and Linwood areas.
Classes, which are held once a month through April, will begin Sept. 21 and will provide information about topics such as education, communications, government, business and economic development.
Classes usually are held in Basehor or Tonganoxie on the third Wednesday of each month. Most are afternoon sessions, with two all-day sessions set for November and March.
Anyone who lives or works in the Leavenworth County area - including high school juniors and seniors - and who is interested in developing leadership skills is eligible to participate. Businesses and organizations are encouraged to sponsor employees or members.
Tuition for the class is $90 per student, which includes lunch for the two all-day sessions, as well as graduation ceremonies in May.
