LHS football continues to climb in rankings

September 8, 2005

Lansing High's football team garnered plenty of preseason respect when the Metro Sports Super 25 poll listed the Lions as the No. 25 team in the Kansas City metro area and the Kansas City Star ranked them as the No. 4 small school football program.

The respect continued to pour in after LHS rallied to beat Tonganoxie, 14-10, on Friday at Frank Graham Field. The Lions remained No. 4 in the Star poll but rose to No. 23 in the Super 25 rankings. Meanwhile, in the Topeka Capital-Journal's state rankings, LHS began receiving votes for the top five in the Class 4A poll.

Lansing (1-0 overall, 1-0 Kaw Valley League) will play host to Mill Valley (0-1 overall, 0-0 Kaw Valley League) at 7 p.m. Friday at LHS.
