Kansas City, Kan.

Gary D. Bennett, 58, of Kansas City, Kan., died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs with burial to follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bennett was born Aug. 3, 1947, in Kansas City, Kan. He was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Kansas. For more than 35 years he was a member of the Operating Engineers of America Local Union #101. His life works can be seen throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan area in numerous large scale construction projects including Royals Stadium, Arrowhead Stadium, AT&T Town Pavilion, Westin Crown Center and many others including his proudest achievement of building and improving his own home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Robert L. Bennett. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Karen R. Bennett, of the home; three sons, Stephen D. Madl and wife, Klancie, Ramstein U.S. Air Force Base in Germany; Charles H. Bennett and William E. Madl of Lawrence; a daughter, Ellen L. Rivers and husband, Jeff, of Kansas City, Kan.; three grandsons, one granddaughter, two brothers, Glenn Dale Bennett of Clinton, Mo.; and Larry J. Bennett, San Francisco, Calif.; a sister, Delores J. Brown, Basehor; and many nieces and nephews.
