Smith swings for Red Cross
Michael Smith, a long-time youth and American Legion baseball coach in the Lansing community, will be trading in his baseball swing for a golf swing on Wednesday morning when he participates in the Radio 810 WHB charity golf marathon at Prairie Highlands Golf Course.
The tournament will be raising money for a number of charities, most of them related to the relief efforts of hurricane Katrina.
Players will play as many holes as they can from sun up to sun down and raise money for each hole they play.
Players can pick a charity to play for. Smith said he would be playing for the American Red Cross because his employer, Kansas City Power and Light, had agreed to match whatever he raised.
Anybody interested in sponsoring Smith at the tournament can contact him at 913-683-9840.
