City collects items for Katrina victims
The city of Lansing has teamed with Lansing High School and Cub Scout Pack 3165 to collect donations for Hurricane Katrina victims.
Through Oct. 3, the groups will collect toiletries, first aid items, diapers and baby wipes, and other items such as flashlights, batteries, trash bags, rubber or work gloves and sponges at Lansing Activity Center, 108 S. Second St. A complete list of items the groups are seeking can be found on the city's Web site, lansing.ks.us.
The items will be donated to Heart to Heart International, an Olathe-based charity. The city also will accept checks written to Heart to Heart in the Parks and Recreation office at the activity center.
