Ralph D. Dunn
Lawrence Services for Ralph D. Dunn, 83, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 7, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence. Private family burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mr. Dunn died Friday, March 31, 2006, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community, Lawrence.
He was born Aug. 28, 1922, in Marion, the son of Clyde W. and Fern S. (Pollitt) Dunn.
Mr. Dunn graduated in 1941 from Marion High School and later attended the University of Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces during World War II and was stationed in Paris and Lynz, Austria.
He was a milkman for Chamney Dairy for five years and later worked for Decker-Coy Real Estate. He then opened Dunn Real Estate and retired in 1979 after 10 years.
Mr. Dunn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and McDonald's Coffee Club, and he was a 50-year member of Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 of the American Legion, all in Lawrence.
On Sept. 24, 1949, he married Jean Campbell in Lawrence. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Dana, Overland Park, and Dallas, Kansas City, Mo.;a daughter, Lynn Dunn, Eugene, Ore.; two brothers, Bill, Valley Center, and Max, Santa Cruz, N.M.; a sister, Ruth Spinden, Wellington, Colo.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice or Trinity Lutheran Church, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 1260, Lawrence 66044.
