Haugland leads LHS golf
Lansing High junior Ted Haugland turned in two of his best rounds of golf of the season during a three-day span as he led the LHS golf team to a seventh-place finish Saturday at the Osawatomie Invitational and a third-place finish Monday at Iola.
Haugland had shown steady improvement throughout the season, and these tournaments were no exception. He shot a season-best 85 to place 34th at Osawatomie.
Lansing placed seventh with a four-player score of 344. Topeka Hayden won the tournament with a 302. Joining Haugland at the tournament were teammates Maria Jackson (84), Javen Kelly (87), Zach Robinson (88), Shawn Jung (90) and Max Kozak (95).
Haugland continued his consistent play Monday when he shot a team-best round of 88 and placed 10th overall at Iola. Kelly also had an 88 and placed 12th. Kozak shot a 90, Ryan Willcott shot a 93, Robinson shot a 98 and Jung had a 107.
