Julia M. Bannon Benefiel

Services for Julia M. Bannon Benefiel, 93, Lansing, were Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. Burial followed in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Benefiel died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, at Saint John Hospital.

She was born Dec. 30, 1912, in Douglas, the daughter of Vorry B. and Ida Belle Pigg Bannon.

Mrs. Benefiel was an active member of Lansing United Methodist Church. She also was a member of United Methodist Women, Eastern Star, Cushing Hospital Auxiliary and Leavenworth Country Club golf and bridge clubs.

She was employed by Rich's Department Store of Atlanta, and retired as office manager from Zales Jewelry of Leavenworth.

In January 1935, she married Verlin B. Benefiel. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include her children, Shirley J. Benefiel Geoghan, Manistee, Mich., Rodger C. Benefiel, Leavenworth, Sondra S. Benefiel Leach, Kansas City, Mo., and Darci D. Benefiel Schuler, Lansing; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

The family received friends on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at the funeral chapel.

The family suggests memorials to Lansing United Methodist Church's building fund, sent in care of the funeral chapel, 531 Shawnee St., Leavenworth 66048.
