Robert W. Cook

— Services for Robert W. Cook, 81, Leavenworth, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Leavenworth. Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Leavenworth.

Mr. Cook died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at Country Care in Easton.

He was born Aug. 26, 1925, in Leavenworth, the son of Robert T. and Grace Irene (Oliphant) Cook.

Mr. Cook joined the U.S. Marine Corps on Nov. 1, 1943. He served in Okinawa and Tientsin, China, and was discharged in June 1946.

Mr. Cook worked for Masterson Brothers as a mechanic and for Kansas Power and Light until his retirement with 38 years of service. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for more than 50 years, a member of the Eagles Aerie 55, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He married Katherine Marie McEvoy on Dec. 25, 1946, in Leavenworth; she survives at the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Robert E., Portland, Ore., and Jerry R., Lansing; and a granddaughter.

A son, William J., died April 30, 1992.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at R.L. Leintz Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or Alzheimer's Disease Association, sent in care of the funeral home, 4701 10th Ave., Leavenworth 66048.
