Robert W. Cook
Services for Robert W. Cook, 81, Leavenworth, were Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Leavenworth. Burial with military honors followed at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Leavenworth.
Mr. Cook died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at Country Care of Easton.
He was born Aug. 26, 1925, in Leavenworth, the son of Robert T. and Grace Irene (Oliphant) Cook.
Mr. Cook joined the U.S. Marine Corps on Nov. 1, 1943. He served in Okinawa, Japan, and Tientsin, China, and was discharged in June 1946.
Mr. Cook worked for Masterson Brothers as a mechanic and for Kansas Power and Light until his retirement with 38 years of service. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for more than 50 years, a member of the Eagles Aerie 55, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He married Katherine Marie McEvoy on Dec. 25, 1946, in Leavenworth; she survives at the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Robert E. Cook, Portland, Ore., and Jerry R. Cook, Lansing; and a granddaughter.
A son, William J. Cook, died April 30, 1992.
