Services for Dewey D. Swift, 81, of Lansing, were Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth.

Mr. Swift died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, at Medicalodge of Leavenworth.

He was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Junction City, the son of Elber D. and Fern Marie (Paxton) Swift.

On July 26, 1946, he married Margaret Ann Olson. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Denise Ann Jones, Kansas City, Mo.; a son, David H., Leawood; two sisters, Violet Herman, Naples, Fla., and Fern Calk, Leonard, Texas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Swift graduated from Leavenworth High School and attended Ottawa University. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946.

He worked for the U.S. Penitentiary, retiring in 1976. He also worked in real estate in Leavenworth for 20 years.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Leavenworth, Senior Citizens' Bowling League, Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 55 and AARP. He also was a past master of Hiram Lodge No. 68.

The family suggests memorials to Alzheimer's Association or First United Methodist Church, sent in care of the funeral chapel, 531 Shawnee St., Leavenworth 66048.
