Police to inspect child car seats
As a prelude to Child Passenger Safety Week, the Lansing Police Department is offering inspections and installation of car seats and booster seats for children.
The child passenger safety check lane will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 11, at City Hall, 800 First Terrace. Officers certified in inspecting and installing car seats will be on hand to assist parents with the seats in their cars.
The department also will conduct a Dingo ID session. Parents whose children participate in the Dingo ID session will be given a computer disk containing their child's photograph, fingerprints and other personal data.
Child Passenger Safety Week is Feb. 13-19. During the week, Lansing Police will have out extra patrols to provide educational materials and take enforcement actions in an effort to increase child passenger safety.
