William R. Filley

— Graveside services with military honors for William R. Filley, 82, Leavenworth, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Leavenworth.

Mr. Filley died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at his home.

He was born May 19, 1923, in Leavenworth, the son of Henry and Nellie Filley.

Mr. Filley was retired from Wadsworth Hospital, where he worked as a nursing assistant for more than 35 years. He previously had worked at Gatewood Nursery

He was an Army veteran and had served in World War II, where he participated in the Battle of the Bulge.

Mr. Filley married Virginia L. Osborne on Nov. 20, 1946, in Leavenworth. She died April 10, 2001.

Survivors include two sons, John H., Leavenworth, and Robert E., Lakeland, Fla.; and a daughter, Patricia A. Walker, Lakeland, Fla.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Barnett-Larkin-Brown Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to Cushing Hospital Guild, sent in care of the funeral home, 707 S. Sixth St., Leavenworth 66048.
