Retail-office complex slated for DeSoto Road
Site now home to mobile home park
The southeast corner of DeSoto and Eisenhower roads would be home to a new retail-office complex, if the plans of a group of doctors come to fruition.
Leavenworth-Lansing Community Physicians Inc. has submitted plans to the city of Lansing for its proposed Eisenhower Crossings development. The complex on 34.5 acres currently is home to a mobile home park with about 47 units and otherwise vacant land.
A preliminary development plan shows the partnership intends to build the complex in stages, with a 25,000-square-foot retail area and a 40,000-square-foot office building planned in the initial stage.
Ultimately, the plan envisions four additional retail buildings, ranging in size from 7,000 square feet to 10,000 square feet; five additional retail/office buildings, from 7,000 square feet to 10,000 square feet; another 40,000-square-foot office building; and a 5,000-square-foot office building.
The plan, which will be discussed at the Jan. 18 meeting of the Lansing Planning Commission, also calls for construction of nine duplexes and 80-plus units for an assisted living community.
Phases beyond the initial two buildings would be constructed "as market demand allows," according to the plan.
The land is owned by Leavenworth-Lansing Community Physicians Inc., and lists Dr. Richard Whitlow as the group's contact person. Whitlow, a staff member at Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth who specializes in internal medicine, did not return phone calls to either his Leavenworth office or his home.
