Obituary: Helen F. Purtee
Helen P. Purtee, 94, of Bonner Springs, died on Tuesday Dec. 27, 2005, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
Funeral services were Dec. 30, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home; burial was in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. Visitation was prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Bonner Springs care of the funeral home.
Mrs. Purtee was born March 24, 1911, at her family's home in Bonner Springs. She was baptized and became a member of the First Christian Church in 1922 where she went on to teach Sunday school for many years.
Helen married Wesley T. Purtee on Feb. 12, 1928. She was a member of the Bonner Springs Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of Eastern Star. She worked for the Greeley Gas Co., retiring after 17 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; her daughter, Joan K. Scott; her sisters Venita Pettit and Florence Hall; her parents, Charles "Doc" Williamson and Pearl (Duncan) Williamson; two son-in-laws Alex Ramirez and Dean Eisman; and a daughter-in-law, Patsy Purtee. Survivors include her two sons, Wesley L. Purtee and wife Jan of Raytown, Mo., and Kenneth L. Purtee and wife Donna of New Mexico; three daughters, Mary L. Eisman of Linwood; Laura P. Ramirez of Bonner Springs; and Dorothy S. Hoffine and husband Jim of Bonner Springs; a brother, Charles Williamson of Texas; 22 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
