Basehor Chamber of Commerce selects officers for coming year
The Basehor Chamber of Commerce overhauled its leadership Wednesday, Jan. 11, by electing new officers for the upcoming year.
New officers are:
¢ President: Karin Dougherty, Sunflower Broadband.
¢ Vice president: Debbie Bonee, Bonee Enterprises.
¢ Secretary: Jandi Smith, Sunflower Broadband.
¢ Treasurer: Susan Adams, R and S Equipment.
Each year the chamber elects new officers. Adams, who also works as the treasurer for the city of Basehor, was re-appointed to serve a third consecutive term handling the organization's books.
Dougherty, who served as secretary in 2005, was promoted to replace Debbie Breuer. Bonee, herself a past chamber president, replaces Gayle Runnels as second in command. Smith replaces Dougherty as secretary.
Breuer thanked all former officers for their work last year. She also praised the abilities of the in-coming officials.
"(Karin Dougherty) is full of energy and will do an outstanding job," Breuer said.
Bonee "is not a rookie to her position," she said, adding, "I look for her to lend the new president a lot of support ... (She) is very energetic about the promotion of Basehor."
Smith has volunteered for numerous Chamber of Commerce projects in the past and "is always willing to offer a hand with any project we are working on."
Rounding out the chamber hierarchy are board members Breuer, Runnels, Yvonne Rosenthal, Lila White and Susan Guy. Board members serve three-year terms.
