January 12, 2006

Two restaurants and a retail store are poised to open next month inside the Legends of Village West shopping district.

Legends of Village West, a 750,000-square-foot area in western Wyandotte County, soon will add two eateries -- Outback Steakhouse and Granite City -- as well as a Cavender's Western Wear store.

All three businesses are now hiring. For more information about positions available or about applying, visit the Web site,

The first Kansas store for Cavender's Western Wear, 1847 Village West Parkway, will encompass 16,000 square feet. The storefront faces the parking lot next to Ted's Montana Grill.

The retail chain is based in Texas, and the Kansas City location is set to open Feb. 1.

Next up for February is Outback Steakhouse, 1851 Village West Parkway, which also faces the parking lot next to Ted's. The restaurant, which offers a variety food in a casual atmosphere reminiscent of the Australian outback, will encompass 6,200 square feet.

It is scheduled to open Feb. 9.

Of the three businesses set to open next month, only Granite City Food and Brewery, does not have a firm date as of yet. According to information released by Legends of Village West, Granite City will open on or around Feb. 15.

The 8,900-square-foot restaurant, at 1700 Village West Parkway, offers casual dining with an on-site brewery. It serves signature beers and a broad menu of food.
