City council reappoints members to zoning board
The Basehor City Council on Thursday approved several re-appointments to the Board of Zoning Appeals.
Those reappointed are: David Roe, Lesley Johnson and Ty Garver. Roe will serve a one-year term, Johnson a two-year term and Garver a three-year term. Council members unanimously approved the appointments.
Basehor city officials established the Board of Zoning Appeals in 2003. The board was implemented as a way to reduce the workload of the Basehor Planning Commission, which until then had served dual roles.
The BZA meets only when petitioners appeal decisions made by the planning commission. In 2005, the board met only a handful of times.
Before they were recommended for reappointment, Garcia said he spoke with Roe, Johnson and Garver. Each of them was eager to serve municipal government for an additional term, the mayor reported.
Rounding out the BZA are members Jeff Scherer and Bill Robinson. Their terms expire next year.
