Reno Bobwhites 4-H Club
President Jason Miles called the monthly meeting of the Reno Bobwhites 4-H Club to order at 7:34 p.m. Jan. 5. Garrett French led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Grace Reilly led the 4-H Pledge.
Song leaders Patrick Monahan, Matt Saathoff and Justyn Leslie led the club in singing "The More We Get Together." Song leaders Marilynn Megee, Tina Allen and Sagan Scates led the club in singing "Happy Birthday" to members with January birthdays.
Roll call was answered by "what time you went to bed on New Year's Eve." Secretary Max Packard read the minutes from last month's meeting, which were approved as read. Treasurer Ben Reynolds gave the treasurer's report. Reporter Norman Schlight announced that the minutes from the December meeting were submitted to The Tonganoxie Mirror, the Basehor Sentinel and The Lansing Current. There was no county council report.
Committee leader Clinton Megee announced that people needed to sign up for the Valentine for Vets on Feb. 18 at the Veterans Hospital. Committee leader Hilary Saathoff announced that all teen members needed to meet after the meeting to discuss plans for the club's birthday party Feb. 2.
Kathy Monahan announced that members interested in choir needed to sign up, and after the meeting she would be having a short meeting to introduce the two songs the club will be singing. The choir will practice from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays; practice will be held immediately after the regularly scheduled Club meetings.
Nikki Gee reminded members that she would be collecting digital pictures taken throughout the 4-H year from members to be displayed at County Achievement Night.
Norman Schlight talked about greyhounds and introduced his retired racer, Burt. Aaron McIntyre gave a safety tip to change the batteries in your smoke detector every year.
Janice McCue announced that there would be an all-club workshop meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 19. Project leaders will be there to discuss goals and record books with members. She also asked all teen leaders to contact her with dates that might work for the July Club's Annual Safety Day Camp. Members were reminded that forms for County Club Days are due to the club on Jan. 20 and to the Extension Office on Jan. 28. County Council meeting is scheduled for Jan. 23; countywide horse meeting is scheduled for Jan. 18.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
