Georgia Honeyfield

Services for Georgia Joelene Honeyfield, 70, Harlingen, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. today, July 13, at R. L. Leintz Funeral Home, Leavenworth. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Mrs. Honeyfield died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.

She was born, June 10, 1936, in Salem, Mo., the daughter of Joe E.L. and Bermiel Pierce.

She graduated from William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo., earned a Master's of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo., and studied Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Mo. She was ordained by Parkway Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kan.

She was a chaplain at Heartland Regional Medical Center until her retirement. After retiring, she worked part time in Leavenworth at Cushing Memorial Hospital and Cushing Hospice as a chaplain. She also was a volunteer chaplain at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.

She was member of First Baptist Church in Harlingen.

Survivors include her husband, Robert M. Honeyfleld; a Joel Mark Honeyfield, Leavenworth; a daughter, Laurie K. Hable, Lansing; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service was conducted Wednesday at First Baptist Church, in Harlingen.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at the funeral home.
