Convicted rapist ordered to prison
TThe man who raped a clerk during a Lansing convenience store robbery in December 2004 was sentenced Friday to more than 60 years in prison.
Gregory Mark George Jr., 26, Kansas City, Kan., was sentenced to 586 months in prison for rape, 59 months for kidnapping, 59 months for aggravated robbery and 18 months for aggravated intimidation of a witness. Leavenworth County District Judge Frederick Stewart also ordered that the charges be served consecutively, meaning George must serve the sentences one after another.
The incident occurred at Wood Oil Co., 109 4-H Road.
George has been held in the Leavenworth County Jail since his arrest shortly after the crimes took place. His first trial on the charges, in October 2005, ended in a mistrial. Subsequent events delayed George's retrial until June, when a Leavenworth County jury found him guilty of all counts related to the case.
