Main St. update
As work continues on the Seven-Mile Creek Bridge, work on the Main Street System Enhancement project next week will creep north to Ida Street.
Weather permitting, on Wednesday, June 7, road and intersection relocation work will necessitate the closure of Ida Street's access to and from Main Street, Ken Miller, the city's Main Street project liaison, said in a news release. Ida Street is being aligned with the entrance to Clear Creek Court to create a safer and more efficient intersection with Main Street. The Ida Street access closure will remain in effect until mid-August.
Miller said work was progressing on the Seven-Mile Creek Bridge replacement, and weather permitting, the southbound lanes of the bridge will be demolished and removed Friday, June 2. Lane reductions leading to and on the bridge remain in effect, with traffic restricted to one lane each direction on the northbound lanes.
The Main Street System Enhancement project calls for widening Main Street from Connie to Ida streets to include a center turn lane, rebuilding the bridge over 7-Mile Creek, reconstructing medians from Gilman Road to Ida Street and constructing a "reverse frontage road" north of West Mary Street to West Kansas Avenue. Construction is slated to continue into 2007.
Residents with questions about the project can telephone Miller at (913) 208-6650 or contact him by email at email@example.com.-us.
