Dr. William McKim

Services for Dr. William (Bill) Charles McKim, Leavenworth, were Wednesday, June 7, at Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. Burial was at Mount Muncie Cemetery, Lansing.

Dr. McKim died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at his home.

He was born June 24, 1947, in Pratt, the son of John Barney and Lottie Smart McKim.

He grew up in Pratt and Moscow, Kan. After graduating from Moscow High School in 1965, he attended the University of Kansas.

In 1971 he earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Houston and in 1973 earned a doctorate of optometry from the University of Houston.

Dr. McKim had practiced optometry in Leavenworth since 1973 when he joined a local practice. His hobbies included reading, antiques, architecture and woodworking.

Survivors include a son, William Craig, Lawrence; a daughter, Susan Anne McKim Clauser, Kansas City; and a brother, John B., Great Bend, KS and also nieces.

The family suggests memorials to the Leavenworth Public Library, sent in care of the funeral home, 531 Shawnee, Leavenworth 66048.
