Town Hall meeting postponed
City officials have called off a town-hall meeting on Tuesday and will reschedule it for next month.
City Administrator Mike Smith said the meeting was being postponed so that he could arrange to bring a speaker to address traffic concerns that have been raised recently by City Council members and Lansing residents.
The idea for the meeting was floated by Mayor Kenneth Bernard during the Feb. 2 Lansing City Council meeting after Council member Harland Russell told the council that calls about speeding were consistently the No. 1 issue raised by his constituents.
Earlier this month, details were announced for the March 21 meeting, but Smith said Monday that some questions and concerns raised about the date and topics for the meeting prompted him to seek an expert speaker and postpone the meeting until April 11.
The April 11 meeting, Smith said, would be conducted in a town-hall-style forum, but the major topic of discussion would be traffic and speeding.
