New bank to break ground soon

March 23, 2006

First State Bank and Trust will break ground at its new bank site in Basehor within the next four weeks.

Jilinda White, executive vice president of retail and marketing, said she hoped ground would be broken in early April.

White said the bank had experienced some minor design delays, but the project was proceeding smoothly.

"We just wanted to make sure the facility was efficient in terms of our needs and our customers," White said.

The new bank will be at the southwest corner of U.S. Highway 24-40 and 155th Street, inside the Pinehurst development.

White said that although the new building would be about the same size as the current bank at 1106 N. 155th St., its improved design would allow customers to access all of the bank's services from the lobby.

"We'll also have more parking and more drive-up lanes, so we're looking forward to faster service for customers and more convenience," White said.

First State Bank and Trust is based in Tonganoxie. It also operates banks in Lawrence, Perry, Clearwater and Wichita.
