Reno Bobwhites 4-H
President Jason Miles called the monthly meeting of the Reno Bobwhites 4-H Club to order on March 2. Ryan Grammer led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Tyler Grammer led the 4-H Pledge. Song leaders Tina Allen and Marilynn Megee led the club in "Boom." Song leaders Patrick Monahan, Justyn Leslie and Matthew Saathoff led the club in singing "Happy Birthday" to members with March birthdays and to the club, which is celebrating its 43rd birthday this month. Roll call was answered by 51 members and 5 Cloverbuds with "household substances that could be poisonous."
Secretary Max Packard read the minutes from last month's meeting, which were approved. Treasurer Ben Reynolds gave the Teasurer's report. Reporter Norman Schlight announced that the minutes from the February meeting were submitted to the Basehor Sentinel, The Lansing Current, and The Tonganoxie Mirror.
Michelle Schlight announced that she had contacted someone who might be interested in teaching small engines repair and needed all members in that project to meet with her after the meeting. Kathy Monahan called the club's choir forward and rewarded them with the blue ribbons they received during County Club Days. Donna Wiley thanked all of those who had helped with the beef dinner fundraiser.
Jason Miles announced that he had schedules for Horse and Horseless Horse members with the dates for all of the meetings, and that those members needed to see him after the meeting to get one. Jason Miles announced that Shannon Smith was taking reservations for tables for the Equicrombe and Hitch Sale on April 1 at the fairgrounds. Proceeds will go to the American Association of Equine Disaster Relief. Kirsten Baggett read "New and Beautiful." and Colton Tim read "Ridiculous Rose." Patrick Monahan read the poem, "I'm Nobody, Who Are You?" by Emily Dickinson.
Hilary Saathoff gave a safety tip concerning not washing your car when it's cold out so the doors don't freeze shut. Ben Reilly gave a safety tip concerning wearing a helmet when riding a bike so that you don't bust your head open. Ben and Jacob Reynolds demonstrated how to put together a Level 1 rocket from a kit.
Donna Wiley welcomed new members Ed and Lori Gagne and their daughter Sara Krapp.
