Delivery stalls lane closings
It was travel as usual Wednesday along Main Street, when a planned utility relocation and accompanying lane closings didn't begin as scheduled.
John Young, the city's Public Works director, said Kansas Gas Service didn't receive a timely delivery of pipe to begin the relocation on time. Now the two-week project is slated to begin Friday, March 31.
The relocation project will require the closing of the outside northbound lane on Main from Kansas Avenue to Helen Street, said John Young, the city's Public Works director. At the same time, the outside southbound lane of Main Street from Kay Street to just south of Mary Street also will be closed while crews relocate utilities.
