KVL opener could be huge
Just four days after opening their season at perennial power Blue Valley Northwest, the Basehor-Linwood Lady Bobcats will return home for a game that could ultimately decide who wins this year's Kaw Valley League title.
Mill Valley will come to town on Tuesday, April 4, and both sides are seeing the huge implications that this game might have.
"I really think it's going to between us and Basehor for the league championship so it's ironic we have to play each other first," Mill Valley coach Michelle Mages said.
The Jaguars and Bobcats are without question the most experienced teams in the league this season.
Both lost just one player from last season's state-bound squads, and both figure to rely heavily on dominant pitching to lead their charges back to the postseason.
It's way too early to say that the winner of Tuesday's contest will win the league title, but there's no question that whoever prevails will have a leg up in the race. The game will begin at 4:30 p.m.
