1,400 briefly lose power
An outage cut electricity to about 1,400 customers Friday afternoon in Lansing, Westar Energy reported.
Gina Penzig, a spokeswoman with Westar, said the company had not determined the cause of the outage, which occurred about 2:50 p.m. Friday. Power was restored by 3:20 p.m.
Penzig said customers affected were in an area generally east of De Soto Road between Eisenhower Road and 4-H Road. City officials narrowed the outage to an area east of De Soto between Fairlane and Mary Street.
Among those losing power were Lansing Correctional Facility, Lansing Lumber, which was celebrating its 40th anniversary, the city's Public Works Department, and The Current.
