Froelich leads LHS golf at Perry Invitational
Stefan Froelich shot a team-best round of 83 and led the Lansing High golf team to a third-place finish Thursday at the Perry-Lecompton Invitational.
Froelich's score was good for 14th overall, although he might have placed higher if he hadn't played most of the back nine with a bruised shoulder that resulted from being drilled with another player's errant shot. Froelich, a junior, shot a 38 on the front nine and a 45 on the back nine.
Andrew Cameron and Maria Jackson both shot 85, Max Kozak fired an 88, Javen Kelly shot a 92 and Zach Robinson shot a 93.
Jeff West placed first out of 10 teams with a 314. For of West's golfers placed in the top 10 individually. St. Mary's was second with a 333. Lansing shot a 341.
Lansing next plays at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Anderson County. Then the Lions will compete at 1 p.m. Monday at the Kaw Valley League meet at Sunflower Hills Golf Course in Bonner Springs.
