Avery R. Hirschler

— Services for Avery R. Hirschler, 79, Leavenworth, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Cemetery.

Mrs. Hirschler died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Medicalodges of Leavenworth.

She was born March 19, 1927, in Basehor, the daughter of Joe and Marie (Todd) Lupton.

She had worked as a secretary at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and at Job Services. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Leavenworth, where she was a member of The Jollies and American Baptist Ministries. She loved her Sunday school class.

She married Thomas C. Hirschler on Jan. 11, 1950, in Leavenworth. He died June 14, 1994.

Survivors include a son, Bruce C. Hirschler, Frankfort, Ky.; two brothers, Virgil Lupton, Leavenworth, and William Abbott, Lansing; and a sister, Karen Vogel, Lansing.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church or Hospice of Leavenworth, sent in care of the funeral home, 500 Oak St., Leavenworth 66048.
