Seniors wrap up high school careers
Time at Lansing High School is short for the Class of 2006.
Seniors' last day of school is Friday, May 12. In celebration, they will decorate the school at 8 p.m. today, May 11. Toilet paper is not allowed.
Several activities also are scheduled for seniors next week.
Seniors will have a parade on Wednesday, May 17. It will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Lansing Activity Center, 108 S. Second St., and end in the LHS parking lot. A breakfast will follow the parade at 8:05 a.m. in the school commons. Graduation practice is mandatory and will be at 8:45 a.m. at Earl W. Johnsmeyer Gymnasium. Practice is expected to be over by 10:40 a.m.
A baccalaureate ceremony will be Wednesday evening. Students should report to the LHS gym by 6:30 p.m. wearing gown and cap with the tassel on the right side. The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. and last about one hour.
Seniors who bought tickets last month will attend Worlds of Fun from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 18. Senior awards will be given at a ceremony at 7 p.m. Thursday in the LHS gym. Students should wear cap and gown; the event is expected to last one to two hours.
And, finally, commencement will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at Frank Graham Field. Students must report by 9 a.m. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be at the same time in the LHS gym. The event is expected to last one hour.
Operation Graduation will be from 10 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday, May 21, at Harney Gym, Fort Leavenworth.
