Library ready for summer with programs for public
Lansing Community Library will continue to spice up the long, hot days with entertainment and reading programs.
The 2006 Sizzlin' Summer Program and series will run from June 15 to Aug. 3. Programs will be at 10 a.m. Thursdays at Lansing Activity Center, 108 S. Second St. On tap are:
¢ Vaudeville Entertainment with juggling, slapstick and circus elements, June 15
¢ Rep-Tails animal presentation, June 22
¢ Keith Leff: Magicreations magic show, June 29
¢ Down in the Swamp music presentation, July 6
¢ Make Me Smile improvisational game show, July 13
¢ Wings of Love bird presentation, July 20
¢ Mr. Stinky Feet music presentation, July 27
¢ Bongo Barry: Healthy Sounds music presentation, Aug. 3
Admission to each show will be $2 the day of the event. Punch cards will be available for $10 through June 15 that will allow 10 admissions to any shows throughout the summer. Cards may be purchased at the library.
The library's summer reading program, "Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales," will begin later this month.
To participate in the program, patrons must register at the library, 108 S. Second St., in one of five categories: pre-readers, independent readers, advanced readers, young adults and adults.
For every 10 books from the library that participants read and record in a reading log, they will earn a free book. Pre-readers will earn a free book for every 25 books read to them.
