November 16, 2006
The Leavenworth County Attorney's Office has filed charges against a 19-year-old Lansing man in a case involving a 14-year-old Holt, Mo., runaway.
Lansing Police, responding to a call from the teenage girl's parents, found the girl Sunday evening in a residence in the 200 block of North Main Street.
In questioning the teen, Chief Steve Wayman said, police learned of possible illegal contact between the girl and a 19-year-old resident.
The 14-year-old underwent a sexual assault test, and police arrested the 19-year-old.
Deborah Owens, a spokeswoman for County Attorney Frank Kohl, said the man was charged with two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and two counts of criminal sodomy.
The man is being held on $40,000 bond in Leavenworth County Jail and is scheduled in District Court on Friday.
