Flora M. Huffman

Services for Flora Marie Huffman, 100, of Leavenworth, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov, 18, at Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Huffman died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at Carriage Square nursing home in St. Joseph, Mo.

She was born March 28, 1906, in Independence, Mo., the daughter of Benjamin Wesley and Mary Magdaline (Munsch) Bousman.

Mrs. Huffman graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1925. She was a cook with Leavenworth High School for 12 years, retiring in 1968. For three years she worked as a reporter, proof reader and society columnist for the Leavenworth Times.

She was a member of Southern Heights Methodist Church, Happy Face Club and the Schacuff Gamb Woman's Christian Society for 50 years.

On May 20, 1928, at Harrisonville, Mo., she married Edward Nathanial Huffman. He died July 26, 1984.

A son, Edward B. Huffman, and a grandson also preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ellen Walker, Lansing, and Flora Virginia Lockhart, Faucett, Mo.; two sons, Raymond V. Huffman, Bloomfield, N.M., and Grant W. Huffman, Belton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday evening at the funeral chapel, 500 Oak St., Leavenworth, with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
