Leavenworth mom wins $5,000

November 16, 2006

A Leavenworth mother of four converted three $1 scratch tickets from a Leavenworth grocery store to a $5,000 payoff last week.

Tammy Moore scratched the Kansas Lottery Quick Crossword ticket and at first only uncovered enough words to win $500. She scratched a little more and found she had won 10 times as much.

"I was shocked when the store clerk validated my ticket and said I had to take it to the Lottery office because I won over $599," said Moore, who plans to use the money to pay off bills.

The winning ticket was purchased Thursday, Nov. 9, at Homeland Food Store, 1920 Spruce, Leavenworth.
