Nu Xi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi

November 30, 2006

Nu Xi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi has had a busy fall schedule. The September meeting was at the home of hostess Shelley Berkebile. Her program was a cooking demonstration of small jelly tarts. The Preceptor Ritual was Oct. 2 for Rhonda Boyd and Lori Murphy at the home of vice president Kelly Abernathy. The Oct. 16 meeting included a pledge ritual for new member Tamara Mortsolf.

The Kansas State Beta Sigma Phi Convention was Oct. 13-15 at the Double Tree Hotel in Overland Park. Connie Evans, Cheryl Orlowski, Kelly Abernathy and Robin Usera attended and participated in cultural programs, a business meeting and socials. At the Friday night social, the group performed a cheer as part of the homecoming theme of the convention.

The Leavenworth chapter's annual Fall Fest was Oct. 24 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Several members attended, enjoyed soups and played bunco. Kelly Abernathy, Tamara Mortsolf and Lori Murphy ended up big winners after the evening festivities.

Nu Xi's annual Fall Party was at the Buffo farm in Lansing on Nov. 4. Members and their families participated by playing fall games, roasting hotdogs and making s'mores over an open fire.

Plans are being made for the chapter's Christmas party Sunday, Dec. 3, at O'Malley's Pub in Weston. Members plan to attend the Homes Tour in Weston before the Christmas Party.
