Construction to affect LHS traffic, parking

October 6, 2006

Construction at Lansing High School will reduce the number of parking spaces on campus and bring to a close Lion Lane north of the football field.

The street will close to the public Monday, Oct. 9. Only construction vehicles will have access to Lion Lane for the duration of the project.

The pickup area for high school students will remain in the same location, but traffic will be routed into a U-turn east of the football field and exit the campus from Olive Street.

The construction also will reduce parking at the high school by 120 spots.

School officials urge students to use additional busing provided by the district this year to help alleviate traffic congestion and reduced parking on campus.

Lansing school district officials expect completion of the new auditorium by Jan. 15, 2008.
