WU homecoming has Lansing flavor

— Alice Hughes, Lansing, is a candidate for homecoming queen at Washburn University.

Hughes is a house manager of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, vice president of Greek Council and served as captain of the Dancing Blues. She was inducted into Nonoso, Mortar Board and Phi Alpha Theta history honor society; volunteers for WU in the Community and College Hill cleanup; and works in breast cancer fundraising, awareness and education, volunteering in the Race for a Cure and Race Against Breast Cancer.

A senior majoring in history, she plans to attend law school. Her parents are Gary and Liddell Hobin.

Washburn will crown its homecoming king and queen at halftime of its football game on Saturday, Oct. 28, against Emporia State University. The game is at Yager Stadium at Moore Bowl on the Washburn campus.
