Kaw Valley Football Report: Week Eight
October 21, 2006
Although the Immaculata football team finished in the bottom half of the Kaw Valley League standings, the Raiders became the first KVL school to lock up a state playoff berth Friday with a 30-0 whipping of Valley Falls.
Bishop Ward also secured a trip to the playoffs with its 55-6 thrashing of Basehor-Linwood. Ward also locked up the district title by beating Piper last week, 28-7.
Meanwhile, Lansing High kept its hopes for a third straight playoff appearance alive with a 20-13 come-from-behind victory over KC-Washington in Class 5A district play. A victory Friday against KC-Schlagle would send the Lions into the playoffs.
League champion Tonganoxie also needs a victory to advance to the playoffs. The Chieftains suffered their first loss of the season Friday with a 21-6 setback on the road at Atchison in Class 4A district action.
