Bank to recognize small businesses

October 26, 2006

Commerce Bank is celebrating Small Business Appreciation Month.

"According to the Small Business Administration's Office of Advocacy, small businesses make up about 50 percent of all employment and create up to 80 percent of new jobs," said Bill Petrie, president of Commerce Bank, Leavenworth.

"Small businesses are the major force that drives and expands our national, regional, and local economies. Small business is big business for Commerce and our community."

Commerce branches have a variety of activities planned throughout the month for their small-business customers, including merchandising the branches to highlight the impact of small business; coordinating breakfasts and luncheons featuring speakers, such as CPAs and attorneys who specialize in small business; and promoting special offers to small-business owners.
