Services for Gayle Bush Whitesell, 88, formerly of Lansing, will be at 1:30 p.m. today, Oct. 26, 2006, at Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. Burial will follow in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Mrs. Whitesell died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 28, 1917, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Ethel (Porter) and Walter Bush, but called "the ranch" near Hulett, Wyo., her home until she attended high school in Sheridan, Wyo.

While working in Cheyenne, Wyo. in 1943, she met and married Melvin Whitesell, who was stationed at Fort Warren.

Mrs. Whitesell was a homemaker, wife, mother and longtime member of Old Mission United Methodist Church in Fairway.

Survivors include three daughters, Marilyn Ray and Dianne White, both of Kansas City, Mo., and Pamela Barba, of Leavenworth; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Her husband and a granddaughter died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or the Lupus Foundation, sent in care of the funeral home, 531 Shawnee, Leavenworth 66048.
