Kaw Valley Football Report: Week Nine

October 29, 2006

Five Kaw Valley League football teams punched their tickets to the state playoffs on Thursday and Friday. Lansing High, Tonganoxie, Immaculata, Bishop Ward and Piper all will participate in the playoffs this week after making strong showings in district play.

A sixth league team - Bonner Springs - posted a 2-1 record in district play but missed out on the playoffs because it accumulated the fewest points out of three 2-1 teams.

For Lansing, the trip to the playoffs is its third straight and first as a member of Class 5A. LHS was the district one runner-up after winning back-to-back district titles in Class 4A. Tonganoxie, Piper and Ward will participate in the 4A playoffs Tuesday. Immaculata is in the 3A playoffs.
