BLHS gears up for homecoming
The Basehor-Linwood High School "Wild Wild West" Homecoming 2006 festivities will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept 28, with a bonfire behind the high school. The public is welcome to attend.
Next week's homecoming parade will kick off Friday's events at 5:30 p.m. The route will travel south down 155th Street from Leavenworth Road to Parallel Road. Several streets will be blocked off along the parade route, including 153rd Terrace, 156th Street off of Leavenworth Road, Poplar at 155th Street and Parallel Road at 155th Street. Parking for parents who dropping off parade participants will be available in the field between the Sixth Grade Center and Basehor Elementary.
Parade participants will meet at 5 p.m. in designated areas. Floats will meet in the Holy Angels Church west parking lot and all other entries including decorated vehicles, bicycles and people walking in the parade will meet at the sixth-grade center. No motorcycles or dirt bikes will be allowed to enter the parade.
All entries must be registered with the BLHS office at (913) 724-2266 to be eligible for cash prizes. Winners will be announced at the football game Friday evening on the marquee in front of the high school.
The BLHS Booster Club will provide a communitywide Homecoming feast after the parade. The annual barbecue will be replaced with a Mexican Feast this year. The "Walking Taco Meal Deal" will be $4 and the children's "Lil' Gringo Hot Dog Meal" will be $3. The community is invited to the feast.
The homecoming candidates will be introduced and the 2006 king and queen will be crowned at half time of this year's homecoming football game against the Lansing Lions, which begins at 7 p.m. Friday.
The BLHS Homecoming "Wild Wild West" dance will be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday evening at the high school.
