Bobcats top Cardinals for first win
One touchdown enough for BLHS to beat Clinton High 6-0
Brandon Leppke's third-quarter touchdown pass to Tyler Miles was all Basehor-Linwood needed to win Friday, thanks to a stout defensive performance. The Bobcats' defense made eight tackles for loss, including three sacks, which helped kill the Cardinals' field position. The BLHS secondary also came up with three interceptions, two by Chandler Schaake and one by Ben Adams, to give the Bobcats the turnover edge. Schaake's second interception, with just 24 seconds remaining, sealed the victory.
Basehor-Linwood's lone score came on a third-and-goal from the 20, when Leppke rolled left and lofted a high pass over a defender to Miles in the back of the end zone. The Bobcats got into a position to score thanks to the running of junior Bruce Tyner, who carried seven times for 38 yards on the drive.
