Services for Lynnford Ray Godfrey, 69, Leavenworth, were Tuesday, April 10, at Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth. Burial was in Mount Muncie Cemetery.
Mr. Godfrey died Thursday, April 5, 2007.
He was born July 10, 1937, in Leavenworth, the son of Lynnford and Naomi (Brown) Godfrey. He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1955 and later joined the U.S. Navy.
After his Navy service, Mr. Godfrey began work with the Bureau of Federal Prisons; he retired in 1994 from the U.S. Penitentiary.
Mr. Godfrey was a lifetime Lutheran and an eternal Christian.
He married twice, first to Judy Renk, who preceded him in death. In 1974, he married Ruth Rudolph Williams. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Rebecca McGlynn, New Jersey, and Sarilu Mettlen, Texas, and Peggy Clements Vannatla, Alaska; two sons, Mark and James, both of New Jersey; two stepdaughters, Ruth Chmidling, Leavenworth, and Sharon Blankenship, Lansing; two stepsons, Scott Williams, Leavenworth and Chuck Williams, Arizona; two brothers, Joe and Ed; 23 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
