Richard Gene Weeks
Services for Richard Gene Weeks, 72, of Leavenworth, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, at Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Lansing.
Mr. Weeks died Monday, April 9, 2007, at the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan.
He was born March 5, 1935, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Albert Earl and Lydia Lichtenwald Weeks.
He was a graduate of Muscatine High School. Shortly after graduation, he entered the military service. He served in the Army in France, Germany and two tours of duty in Vietnam. He received the Meritorious Service Medal in 1975. He retired after more than 20 years of service in the Military Police.
Mr. Weeks then went to work for the Kansas State Penitentiary in Lansing as a supervisor. He retired from that position in 1993.
He spent many happy hours on his farm at Easton. When his health would not allow him to work with livestock, he retired to Leavenworth.
He married Lucette Cousin in Belton, Texas, on Jan. 25, 1965. She survives of the home.
While stationed in Ansbach, Germany, Richard and Lucette adopted a daughter, Patricia.
Other survivors include three brothers, Earl, Kansas City, Mo., Anson, Muscatine, Iowa, and Gary Wayne, New Port Coast, Calif.; and two sisters, Doris Watson, Muscatine, and Geraldine Porter, Spokane, Wash.
Richard was preceded in death by a daughter.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, April 12, 2007, at the funeral chapel.
