Two jobs keep him busy
It's not uncommon for someone to hold down more than one job these days. Just ask Jeff Burris and Jeff Schuler, who co-own Lansing Auto Mart. Between the two of them, they work five jobs.
Burris sells cars out of the storefront on North Main Street and also owns Simple Simon's Pizza off State Avenue in Basehor. Schuler buys the cars that are sold at Lansing Auto Mart and runs a car lot in Kansas City, Kan., as well as Superior Mobile Wash, a truck-cleaning business.
The two are always on the run.
"I make dough every morning from 6 to 10 (at Simple Simon's), I'm here (at Lansing Auto Mart) from 10 to 6, and then I go back to the restaurant at night," Burris said.
It's a good thing Burris' wife, Kelli, also works at the restaurant, or he might not ever get to see her.
The two have no children, but Burris said that one of the biggest joys with his job is "seeing the young kids that are used to work for me that are 20-somethings now.
"It's good to see they've learned something from my work ethic. I'll have guys tell me, 'Man, you're the best boss I ever worked for.'"
When he gets a chance, Burris enjoys being able to listen to music. In particular, he's got a thing for the blues.
"I try to attend as many blues festivals as possible," Burris said.
He's already booked a flight for his favorite: the Memphis in May Music Festival, a three-day concert event held in Memphis, Tenn.
